I am getting away from mobile one after the last batch of independent testing they were at the bottom. I am running royal purple now and have had great results. I have the ability to get my oil tested at work so I am interested in seeing the results over the summer. I can get it fairly decently priced here locally so if things look good I will stick with it.

There is a lot more to oil than just viscosity. Royal purple has the highest film strength of any oil on the market. In this area mineral oils generally surpass synthetics. This is what actually prevents metal to metal contact and damage to bearing surfaces. We use a lot of oil from various brands at work and we are about to start some pilots with RP. If it works out we'll be buying about 100k gallons a year so I should have plenty of test data soon!

On a side not about the BMW oil. If that's for the transmission that's normal for most manufacturers now. GM and ford are sealing their auto tranny's for life.
