It's possible it was the axel or output shaft too but since it's a 2011 I doubt it's the output shaft. That's long been taken care of. The only reason I'm questioning the axel is when kne snaps, what does the other one do? Would the limited slip make that one try to turn??? You can check both easily.
Axel: jack the back of the car and turn one wheel. If the other wheel doesn't turn the opposite direction. Hell you may just be able to look under the car and see.
Output shaft: put the car in gear and let out the clutch. Listen where the noise comes from. Rear of car=gears. Center of car=output shaft. Usually the output shaft issue it just revs up even if it's in gear.
