You sir are spoiled. As am I. I think many people automatically label spoiled people with a variety of adjectives such as rude, selfish, etc. This is not always the case, though I must admit it does hold true in most cases. I try not to be like this, and usually I am not. But believe me when I am tired and/or hungry I can turn into a complete douche if I am not careful, and embody every connotation of the word "spoiled". And yes I agree that most of the time you will take better care of something if you bought it with your own hard-earned dollar. I have tremendous respect for you teens who are paying for this car with funds you have acquired through many hours of low-paying (at least initially) jobs, which most likely ran concurrent with your schooling. However I say most because some "spoiled" people like tsg (I hope) and myself have a sense of honor and gratitude towards our providers, and any irresponsible or disrespectful act motivates us to treat what is given to us, be it a car or the opportunity to have our college education paid for, just as if we had paid for it ourselves. For instance, I spent 7 hours detailing my mom's car this past weekend just because I felt I owed it to her since she lets me drive it whenever I wish (no it was not a Valentine's Day gift I got her something else for that). Sorry for my little rant, I just wanted to attempt to stop the negative vibes radiating from some of you guys regarding "spoiled" teens.
