After all, it is designed to lock you out of 2nd.
btw ... mine does it too (#1691).

I have a skip shift eliminator and a hurst short throw shifter installed on my '10 2SS/RS LS3 and I still grind every once in a while when shifting into second under hard acceleration. This started happening around 1000 miles and has been doing it ever since. I have 5000 miles on the Maro now. I must say that it could be my fault because I let the clutch out a little bit too early when shifting very fast, but the skip shift eliminator did not change the grinding feeling whatsoever after I installed it. All it does is trick the solenoid, so it does not engage and allows you to shift into second. I don't think the skip shift eliminator changed anything for the second gear bind/grind problem that people are having. I also noticed that the hurst short throw amplifies vibrations from the tranny, espescially when the engine is cold and has not yet reached normal operating temperatures. It also makes it harder to shift into second from first, which takes some getting used to and is annoying. I noticed that all you have to do is slam it back into second harder when shifting from first to second and be sure to let your clutch out after you have done this and the second gear will not grind. It still binds though. I am going to try changing the tranny fluid with some high performance fluid. Hopefully it will help just a little. That Lucas oil transmission fix and atf fluid looks like good stuff. Here is a link. Hope this helps.
