Confirm. In Manual the car will only downshift into M-2. You must manually shift to M-1. I find this irritating as well sometimes, but honestly, if you are just crusing in Manual starting off in M-2 isnt' that much of a deal since you have to shift from M-1 to M-2 fairly soon anyway....
