A Z06 will easily take a ZL1, and a ZL1 should be able to take a "normal" LS3 Corvette with no problem in the 1/4 mile.

A Grand Sport Corvette (more rubber in back and better trans gearing than a "normal" Vette) might not go down as easily to the ZL1......personally, I hope it does though.

Yes, the GS is lighter, but even at only the "at least 550hp" GM spec for the ZL1, the ZL1 still has a better power to weight ratio. A ZL1 @ hypothetical 3,950lbs / "only" 550hp = 7.18lbs per hp The GS weighs 3,311 lbs / 436hp = 7.59lbs per hp

True, the Grand Sport has a bit wider tires in back and SLIGHTLY better final drive ratio to the wheels in 1st-3rd gears (even though the ZL1 has 3.73's in back).......that's why it's not a slam dunk that the ZL1 will better the GS in the 1/4. Now, the more hp over 550 that GM "allows" the ZL1 to make, the wider that gap will be at the finish line..............in my opinion of course.
