A couple weeks ago, my "add engine oil" light came on. I have changed the oil every 2 to 3 thousand. I stopped at a shop and it was 3 quarts low?? I took it to the dealer and they told me I forgot to add the oil the last time it was changed. ( I THINK NOT) Well, for a fee of course, they changed the oil for me and told me to come back in 1000 miles for an oil consumption check.
I just took it there this morning and it has burned a little over 2 quarts in a 1000 miles!! I have a 69 vette that doesnt do that. I asked them how they repair it and I was told that they have to contact the technical people as there is no service bulletin for this on the Camaro.
They than told me that there is a diverter (in the pan?) that they add or if that doesnt work, they do a tear down of the engine and put in new pistons? Is anyone else having this problem? I am suppose to take my car in monday and leave it. They said they have no idea how long it will be there and they will help with a rental. The last time I got a little Hyundai, that was weird. Please let me know if you guys know how I should go about this.
