GM would have to do a lot to get the LS3 to 475. Think of it this way, the LS7 is at 505 HP and that took displcement and a lot of wonderfully expensive hardware like titanium rods etc.

A 40 HP bump is easy in the aftermarket, not so much from the OEM. It has to be durable, pass emissions, provide great fuel economy, meet noise pass by etc. Verrrry hard to do. Let's put it this way, if it were that easy, GM would have already done it for the Corvette.

Now I would be interested in what an LS7 would be like without all those high cost extras. How much HP would a 7.0L with more conventional materials similar to an LS3 make? And how much less would it cost? Hmmmmmmm just thought of that on my own. It would still by hard though as it would be verrrrry low volume. Ok, just talked myself out of it.
