Serious Post for Once...
For the zillionth time, we have a thread about a young 16 year old getting a Camaro.
Some of the threads were started in such a way as to be seen as bragging. Heck, just mentioning that you are 16 is unnecessary, but not unheard of.
Most people say hi, but my problem is that some people take what I think is a prejudice against people with money, and spew hate and vitriol at the original posters based on the fact that they don't deserve to have a car because "daddy bought it".
Simply put, this kind of attitude should not be allowed on the boards. We don't allow racism on the boards, and frankly I don't think we should allow classism as well. I've been seeing too many people take this too far.
It's fine to say "Hey...I worked hard for my car", but to start calling people names because they come from a different family and background is wrong in my opinion.
We -should- give these young drivers a hard time when they talk about racing or getting run off the road by old men 1 day after they bought their car, but is it really that big a deal to you that someone got a Camaro and it was paid for by their parents? Do those of you that feel this way think that the Camaro is so exclusive that you have to find reasons for people to not deserve one?
If so, I think the following words sum this up...
A competent and self-confident person is incapable of jealousy in anything. Jealousy is invariably a symptom of neurotic insecurity.
Robert A. Heinlein
