Good question.
My own guess is that while my car wasn't 'held hostage', It ended up being stored in some sort of temp lot because during the strike, they continued producing cars, but they had no way to ship them till things with Allied got settled or they were able to find alternate methods of shipping, so they had to find a place to temporarly stash them.
Once they found ways to ship cars again, the shipping of cars coming off the line started up again, but somebody 'forgot' that they had these others cars stored in the temp lot.
Now they have to get thier act together and address those cars that got forgotten in 'the lot that shipping forgot'.
It wouldn't surprise me that if I hadn't continued to press my dealer to find out why my car was still in Oshawa 3 weeks after it was made, that they would have forever forgotten about those cars.
In my opinion, those cars in 'The Lot That Shipping Forgot' should get priority shipping now at the very least.
At first my dealer tried to give me some song and dance that prhaps it was held over for a QC inspection.
