Actually most of the information that I have gotten back from our Technical Assistance team is that prior to one of the recent updates from Apple the I family of devices was working properly with our vehicles. Afterwards they began to have problems. Though if you do end up having issues with the system and one of your I family devices please speak with your dealership as there is the possibility that the module is having an issue. I would also suggest that if you do so do your best to test your device against other like vehicles (specifically the Camaro of your model year and trim if possible) to see if it isn't simply your vehicle that isn't working with the phone rather than vice versa.
