I have several thousand miles on my Roto-Fab.The bulb that contacts the hood insulation is very soft and compliant.
I highly doubt it will chew through the hood insulation.
The fit is very precise and puts very little pressure on the hood.
This past pollen season,I could see where the pollen collects at the hood contact point,but does not pass though.I would gently wipe the hood insulation clean with a damp cloth.
I was impressed with the workmanship and design quality.
