I will tell you that you will get more dirt/dust in the box or on the hood cover if running an open box. But this tells me how well the scoop works. My car is a 300+ mile a week, year round daily driver and has seen a lot of rain/saline sprayed roads/salt/sand/pollen. I wouldn't run without the scoop after having it on for so long.
