I think you mean that it's a LT (V6) as opposed to a SS (V8). You can have a LT with the RS package and you can have a V8 with the RS package.

If you have and SS/RS it has a V8 so it would sound like a V8.
Sounds like both of you are saying the RS is a V6. It isn't, it's an appearance package. The RS package gives you the halo lights, darker tail lights, etc. It has nothig to do with the engine.
