From what's been released so far regarding the ZL1, there doesn't seem to be many options. If you add it all up, I doubt there's more than a few thousand dollars in options (suede, sunroof, stripes, wheels). Add in the likely GG tax, and I don't see how they're going to compete the the GT500's base price. It doesn't seem like there's going to be a "base" ZL1, and a higher performing one ala GT500, just a full performance model with a few appearance options.

So it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Unless something changes from what we've been shown so far, the ZL1 isn't going to be competing with the base GT500, it's going up against a loaded SVT package car. That car is well into the mid 50's, so anyone thinking it's going to be priced anywhere near the 50K mark is dreaming IMHO.
GT 500 has the SVT package which will probably be matched by an SSX package (?) with some less options I think. The SVT has a bunch of suspension stuff whereas teh ZL1 will come with magnetic ride control so it is probably the standard equivalent... so wont need that package

Their glass roof is $2000!!! ... the sunroof on camaros is less than $1000 by quite a few hundred.

They also have a sound system upgrade and an electronics system upgrade as well when we have the boston acoustics which is fine as is as well as all options from the 2SS model so we wont need that either.

The ZL-1 was also announced with suede inserts so something tells me that any leather will be optional as well... assuming you dont want leather your fine and wont pay extra $ ... but I could be backwards on this

all in all, seems like the (already clarified options) on the ZL-1 are more than enough. Assuming you dont want SSX wheels (probably the most costly upgrade), I envision the ZL-1 price quite a few thousand than the fully loaded GT 500, so not sure what your really talking about

Remember one thing, GM is out to compete with Ford, so I dont see them making the price higher, especially when the boss 302 starting at 42k has produced incredible numbers thus far (even for straight lines)... not to mention fords expiring contract with shelby this year, there may not even be a gt 500 anymore
