A basic recap:
The LS7 was too expensive, and they'll be replacing it with another 500+hp engine anyway. The L76 makes sense because the G8 uses it and the G8 uses the same platform as the Camaro, plus it still beats the base V8 engines from Ford and Chrysler. They also said at the autoshows that they wanted the Camaro to have AFM, which the L76 does. LS3 makes sense because they did have 400 hp in the concept car, and they may not want to drop below that. It is used in the Corvette, another indication we may be getting it. Then there are the other LS variants with superchargers in the pipeline that are expected to make 500+hp, so those could very well be used as a high-performance V8 to counter the GT500 and the SRT8. Then there are the Gen Vs, but we know very little about those, including release dates so those are the real wildcards in the mix.
