Now im not going to pretend to know whether or not some car 50 years ago came with cross ram... hell im not even going to pretend that i care. But if it came mass produced from the factory, its stock and if it came from the performance parts division after the ORIGINAL FACTORY CONFIGURATION than its modified.
The cross ram was listed as an available option from the factory and could be ordered when you placed your new Z/28 order at the dealership, it just was not installed at the factory. It could also be purchased as a Heavy Duty Service item at the parts counter and installed by the dealer or you could install that yourself. As far as I'm concerned if it was a configuration that could be ordered from the factory then it is stock, if it was ordered over the parts counter and installed then it was not stock from the factory. There were far more ordered over the parts counter and placed on Z/28s that had originally been single four barrels than there were cross rams ordered through the factory. I don't see the issue as much different than the stripe issues on the fifth gen. (though I think that has been changed now) where some stripe colors were going to be factory installed and other stripe options were to be dealer installed, if the stripes were ordered from the factory but dealer installed then I'd still consider them stock. The dealer installed cross rams that were ordered from the factory with a new Z/28 order came from the factory and not the performance parts division on a seperate order.
