Im not sure, but I believe that liquid salt was created because conventional say washes off the road too easily and you need massive amouts to cover a road. Using the liquid (which is likely just a salt+water mix not molten pure salt) lets you use less to cover more. As for stickyness? perhaps they have an adative to make it less prone to comming off the road, which means it has to be applied less often. Anyway, the overall goal of the stuff is to reduce the impact on the environment.
