I also painted mine. sand them with the 600 till the gloss is gone. chrome will not have a mirror finish. wipe them clean with acetone (wear gloves). use plastic primer. light coats and no runs. you can lightly sand primer after it dries to smooth it out. put a base coat layer of gloss black. put a light coat on about 10-15 mins apart. then clear coat a few coats. let them dry. take the 1500 grit with some water and wet the sand paper and bezels. could also use some soap and water. lightly sand the orange peel, then wash clean and let dry. the use some rubbing compound and a rag and rub the hell out of the bezels till the clear coat shines. then wipe clean.
I'm not a pro but thats what i did and it came out ok.
