it has nothing to do with performance with the badge. even if it out performances the model above yours it still doesn't not make it the same model.
now if i was your father i would just keep no badges on it. because GM didn't make a SS with that engine from factory that year. if you were to go to a auction with that car, would you call it a SS ? thats what i thought.

And I disagree with you. I think an SS will always be an SS. Sure if you swap motors it will no longer be an LS3 or L99 SS, but it will still be an SS. You could put a V6 in it and it will still be an SS.
Also, our SSs only come with A6 or M6 transmissions. If you swap it out with a TH400 transmission does that mean it's not an SS anymore?
