There was mention that the oil pump might have failed. Is that still a possible culprit? I just had cam installed last month and really didn't know about the potential issues with the oil pump. I'd be interested to know if it was involved here. I guess I should have replaced mine. (Live and learn.)
Also, was this motor forged? I'm curious to know what the rwhp was. I keep hearing that it's not necessary to forge an engine until it's up over 600+ rwhp. I thought this car was in the "safe" limits for a stock bottom end.
KYPU, Mike! I'll be following this story.

I wish I could swing a 427...at the moment it's just not possible. May end up with a LS3 crate motor....we'll see.
At one point the pump was suspect....but after looking long and hard at this carnage, it points more to the mechanical timing of the engine being out of whack. With the HP level you're at I'm stunned IPS didn't make you upgrade the pump!
100% stock internals on the engine.....470 rwhp. This set up was wayyyyy safe.

I have a strong feeling this pin is the problem.....we'll see.

I don't think it's the pump...plenty of oil on the wrist pins and lifters up top to be oil starved.
