Thank you so much for the kind words, everyone! Also, I appreciate the steady reminders that, above all else, I'm lucky to be in one piece. As a result of this exercise, I think the replacement car will be cherished even more.
I did actually get to keep a piece of the car...and the way it came about was a bit ironic. After the crash, there was a pile of debris from my car (half of the bumper cover, a cracked headlight, some crash structure, etc.) that had accumulated on the sidewalk nearby. The red 'SS' emblem from the front grille was somehow perched on top of the pile, glistening in the sun. I nearly cried when I saw it, but forced myself to snatch it up and put it in my pocket. It's now designating that my toolbox is a Super Sport model.
Onto more positive news, do you think it's worth waiting on a 2012? I have an odd attachment to the unique 2010/2011 'Camaro' steering wheel because it reminds me of my Iroc wheel. If the improved suspension mostly consists of stiffer sway bars, I think that's something I can take care of myself on a 2011. I have no idea what a ZL1 will end up costing in Canada, but I imagine the price will be steeper than I'd like. Given that I've likely found a suitable 2011, I need to come to a decision by Monday. My dealership has agreed to honor all of the current 2011 incentives on a 2012 order if I do it next week, but the salesperson obviously doesn't know how much the base price will shift yet.
