Lets see, the stang is alot lighter and has alot lower gears.....
It damn well better get out of the hole faster!!!
That said, apples to apples, that being gear a camaro the same and it will be a much different story.
As far as the comment about the stangs picking up more performance with add ons does not make any sense to me. From what I have seen, the factory motors are wound pretty tight as they come from the factory. The 6.2 GM motor is severely detuned from the factory
Tune the camaro with some add ons and its not all that hard to get 500 HP at the crank. Compared to the 550 HP (advertised) for the GT500 it seems pretty weak.
Throw a S/C on a properly tuned LS3 and 550 HP will be left far behind.
In the end however, the most important factor to remember, no matter what you do to a stang, its still a damn stang. I have never driven by a stang from the past 10 years that made me say DAMN, thats a nice car. The Camaros make me think that every time I see one. Obviously I am a bit biased but all you have to do is look at the sales numbers and it must be a common opinion!!! and getting much more common.
