Like several of you, I too have dealership connections (I used to be a new car sales manager) and I told someone I would order today if the ridiculous number he said would be true. He was initially saying that the base would be in the twenties, which is of course insane. He did go to the owner to get his facts straight and came back and said preliminary info given to the dealers was $38k base; now who knows how "base" that will be. I believe I read something along the lines that we would be pleasantly surprised at where the ZL1 would be priced (I don't have the energy to try to look that up right now), and in it's history, the Camaro has always easily been #1 in any bang for the buck discussion so I see no reason why that should not continue to be true. The other part of this debate is why in the world would GM price the top Camaro in Corvette territory. Don't get me wrong, I have had 2 Camaros and loved them both, but for equal money I think the Vette would be the choice of the majority of buyers - likely not the majority on this forum, but the majority of the sports car buying public. There has been lots of talk of $50k plus for the ZL1, and while I don't doubt that is what dealers will be asking, I do doubt that is what pricing from GM will be.
Just my 2 cents...
