If you pay extra ($20 I think), you use their transponder which tracks your lap times throughout the day. Then at the end of the day, you get to compete against the others participating, groups of 4 cars, 30 seconds between cars, a few minutes between groups. After all cars have run then the winner is chosen.
Last time on the west track, about 9 cars participated in the time trials, and Jordan kicked all their butts!
