What I do these days- it's very rare I park anywhere near other cars. I usually only drive to and from work and there's a lot I park in that's always empty. I always cover my car too. It's a hassle but you'd be amazed- a good cover can absorb some pretty good whacks.

Also if I'm parked next to a car I think will be a problem I take my phone out and snap a picture. You never know when that could come in handy. Most of us now have phones with halfway descent cameras, it's time to start using them.

I've had my Camaro for about a year and have managed to avoid any dings... so far so good.

But I feel for you and can only pass along the words my Grandmother always said to me-

"Don't cry for anything that wouldn't cry for you".

You wouldn't believe how often I've had to repeat that in order to keep my sanity.
The photo of the neighbor car is a good idea, unfortunately I assumed the Challenger driver would be more careful than a driver of a POS; bad assumption. And parking far away is not always an option, especially in an urban area. But, even if you do park away from the crowd and next to no one, someone may park next to you.

Case in point. No one around and plenty of closer spaces and the jackwad in the truck had to park next to me.

And relating a story does not equate to crying. I was glad that no one from my vehicle was injured; cars can be fixed.
