I think there are some "break-in" additives as well as some assembly lube in the rear diff on a new car which cause the discoloration and awful smell. I seem to feel some improvement in shifting smoothness. I also suffer from the high rpm grind in shifting from first to second gear. The reason I went with Royal Purple was some had changed over to it and felt some improvement with that issue.

I did not add the Limited Slip additive as Royal Purple has an additive for LS in it already. I have older muscle cars and use it in the LS in my Oldsmobiles and have not had a problem.

yeah...the hand pump was well worth the $8!
