Part of the problem is most news anchors work in New York City and don't drive. Same for the politicians in DC. They climb in a limo or taxi or subway car and fiddle with their BlackBerrys 'til they get to work. They don't have a clue how cars work or who's building the good ones, but they're gonna tell us what GM needs to do to stay afloat. I am personally excited by the Volt as a halo car to change public perception, but anybody who thinks a $40,000.00 hybrid is going to put GM in the black is clueless. The hope is that people drawn to dealers to see it will turn around and go "25 Grand, 29MPG, and it looks like THAT? I'll take a Camaro."
