Brotherly (car) love (long)

I live on the edge of the Santa Monica mountains in West LA. I frequently walk a couple of streets up the hill to pick up a trail to a small warerfall. For the past few months I've walked by this remodel that was going on with an extra single garage as part of the add-on. Yesterday I walked by the house and there was a race ready Porsche Carrera parked in the middle of the two car garage and I could see the one car garage had a lift and a little office kind of thing off to the side with a computer, TV, trophy case and Porsche posters on the wall. I really wanted to check it out but didn't see anyone around to ask for permission. Later in the day, I was driving my Camaro back from the store and thought I'd take another look. I drove up to the remodel and there was a guy, about 50 years old, in the "office". I stopped my car parallel to his driveway He heard the exhaust and walked over to the car and ask if he coul help me. I said yes, I'd like to check out your car and garage. He smiled and said sure.
Bottom line, I got a great tour, of his car and garage shop. (He's raced SCCA for 30 years, thus the trophy case) I was so envious of his garage, tools, etc. but then he says. OK, you got your tour, can I take a short drive in your Camaro. No choice but to say yes so we take a spin down to the beach and back. We exchanged phone numbers and this am he calls and asks if I want to go to a track day with him in two weeks. Said he couldn't let me drive his racer but there were always Porsche "beaters" at these track days and he'd make sure I got a chance to do a few laps in one of them.
See, "the farmer and the cowboy can be friends".
