Here are two paragraphs from the MS-8 manual that talk about sub setup (pg 27)
6. The MS-8 will then display
Sub/Front Xover. This screen enables you to determine the
crossover frequency between the subwoofer and the front left and right speakers. You
should determine this frequency by the amount of bass your left/right speakers can safely
produce, considering the amount of power that will be applied to them. Use the Left and
Right navigation buttons to display a frequency between 50Hz and 200Hz, and press the
Select button to select it. If you’re not sure which frequency to choose, we recommend
using 80Hz.
7. The MS-8 will then display
Sub/Front Slope. This screen enables you to choose the rate
of attenuation between the subwoofer and the front speakers. The speakers’ performance
characteristics should determine your selection. Use the Up and Down navigation buttons
to highlight an attenuation rate, and press the Select button to select it. If you’re not sure
which rate to choose, we recommend using 24dB/octave.
I had the seting in step 6 at 60Hz and the setting in step 7 at 24dB. However that causes all frequecies above 60Hz to go to the mid and it just can't handle them at high volume.
I could not find another place where I can set the mid slope except between it and the tweeter. There should be a setting to allow you to create a gap between the sub and mid but there isn't.
If I missed something, please point it out; I really would like to get this setup optimal.
