The engines have different mounting hardware, and we aren't just talking engine mounts: the front subframe and unit body sub assemblies are engineered different for LS/LT and SS.
The ECMs are different. So are the main wire harnesses. Electronics are the big issue..... the intrumentation and calibration of everything is all interconnected and interengineered based on the engine/transmission combo it is built with at the factory.
Long gone are the days when a Saturday afternoon, a cherry pick, a couple of good friends, and a 12 pack of beer were all you needed to convert a V6 to a V8.

ok... so everything is different. that doesnt mean its impossible. just more work required to do the swap.

by your logic, those swaps should have been impossible. but they were done. might have taken a while and required some custom fab work, but thats part of hotrodding
