You've got to consider though - the Camaro doesn't offer a track pack. The Camaro that was tested has GM's bread and butter V8 suspension that everyone who buys a V8 will get. The Mustang had the optional track pack added to it.
A better comparison would be V8 Camaro vs non-track pack Mustang GT - these are the suspensions that most people will get.
Without the track pack, I think the Mustang will be more closer to a V6 Camaro competitor rather than a SS competitor.
