I wouldn't have thought that the deviations in the thickness of paint would be enough to cause those ripples, however slight. It could be that the way it's applied these days has a lot of airflow that makes the tiny waves show up.

I really don't know what causes them. My guess was that the thin metal is rolled and stamped, which would explain the slight deviations.

Could be something with the clear coat too I suppose.


Don't some cars have a perfectly mirror smooth finish, or did I dream that?
