Gotta love living in the Lone Star State. I have owned both the V1 and the Escort 9500i and IMO the Escort is superb. After a few years it seemed like the Valentine lost it's ability to "detect". Sure it worked well on the interstate, but we have one of those permanent "Your speed is" signs outside my neighborhood and the v1 stopped picking it up after awhile
There are firmware updates for it but I never sent it in so I wouldn't know if the issue was resolved. Bought the 9500 last summer and haven't looked back. I also love the GPS function and how you can "lock out" false alarms have it display your current speed, hardly ever look at the gauges anymore.
