The thing about the pony car concept was the fact that you put a very powerful engine in a smaller car.

The Corvette is a true supercar/sports car, while the Camaro is more of a pony/muscle car. Corvette owners tend to be a little bit on the elitist side considering the price they pay. The Corvette is the corvette, but everybody has known somebody with a Camaro, and it's more of a rustic feeling rather than the aura of awesomeness that is the Corvette.

Simply put, the Camaro is an awesome steak you can get for $20 that everybody can appreciate, while the Corvette is a $100 fillet Mignon.

And likewise, the Ferraris and Lambos are for the even more elitist crowd.
