At 32, I may not have the life experience of some others, but I'm not about to insult someone for their lifestyle or whatever.

However, given that, regardless of resources, there is no way I can see giving a 17 yr old a brand new car:
1) Unless they have been driving illegally, they don't have the experience behind the wheel regardless of how mature they are as a person.
2) You don't give a 500+ HP car to a beginner driver regardless of it being new or used. This is a car we are talking about, not a toy. 3500+ lbs of metal and force. People die from these things because of mistakes and inexperience. Knowlegable drivers still die from uncontrollable situations.

To put this kind of car in the hands of a beginner could be a lethal decision. Not saying he will, but there is a reason teenager insurance is higher for a reason.

Everyone knows these cars have bad blind spots and hard to see visual spots. Putting those in the hands of a beginner could lead to a fatal situation as well.

My preference would be, if I was a parent, get the OP a starter car. It doesn't have to be a beater, it doesn't have to be something falling apart, but something to where he can learn and show that he can handle the road and all the situations that driving has to offer. THEN, once he has proven he can, then upgrade the car.

But I cannot see throwing a 17 yr old into a 500+ HP brand new car for any reason.

Just my .02
