Talked to the vet tonight.... Axel's lump is cancerous, but the samples taken aren't giving enough info. Vet suspects it's just something low grade, but isn't sure. She's gonna call me in the morning with options and estimates on the cost. At this point, we can A) do a better biopsy to figure out how aggressive the cancer is, then go back and do surgery, or B) go for surgical removal now, hope she gets it all, then test what was removed. First option will obviously be more expensive because it's two procedures. Second option runs the risk of not getting the whole tumor, and if it's an aggressive tumor, possibly have recurrence.
Sigh..... I don't know.... He's only 6 years old. I love my pets, but I also don't want to go broke over a dog.....
This has me up with an upset tummy at 1am. Plus, my cats were fighting under my bed. Pets - they're as bad as kids....

Go for it all NOW. If it is inoperable you'll know. If it takes an add'l surgery, its a second visit which you would have had anyway. With it out, she can get that "better biopsy" and Axel should get some relief if there has been discomfort up to this point. You didn't ask me but...
