And some cars have what I consider the best compromise between the two.
The indentation for the front plate is molded in the front bumper, but it comes with a 'filler plate' that fills that void when no front plate is required.
I won't put a plate on the front of my Camaro though. I never had an issue in the past when I left it off my '00 S10 Xtreme (which had the 'filler plate').
Besides, the cops should be more worried about all the uninsured/unlicensed illegals than a missing front plate...
