I didn't know any of this. I trained my dog the old fashioned way. Pain as a deterent. Only took three or four times getting whacked with a golf club and he'd learned all he needed to know. (the handle side of the club, and not hard, just enough to sting a little) After that, you NEVER need to do it again. The dog is smart enough to understand the chain of command after that.
But had that been a Pit, I might have created a problem. And I could end up in prison or jail for something I had no idea about.
Nobody ever checks up on dogs that are sold. WAY too many to check on.

When people can buy guns as easy as they can there is no hope for regulating a perceived dangerous dog...
I bought a book and learned how to train my dog before getting the dog...
I have a Newfoundland, about 140 lbs.. its a respect thing between him and I that gets him to do what I want and obey my every word... 98% of the dog owning public has no idea how to properly handle a dog....
heck if they weren't so small those lap dogs would be the number one killer of people.. no one ever trains them properly because they are easily out muscled.. but dogs need respect to give respect... feeding , exercise and attention are how its done.. dogs want to belong and they just need to be taught the rules ... just like a person.. but they cant talk to you and tell you what they need... you have to know and thats accomplished by training of the owner just like the dog.. dogs act up when their needs aren't met.. in a way they are just like a 3 yr old child.. they get smarter as time goes on.. but they have the emotions of a 3yr old kid
