Stock Manifolds are not bad. Traditionally Shorties would net you considerable gains but GM has gotten much better in the last 20 years.

With that said, Shorties look better and are about 1/3 to 1/2 the wieght depending on which ones you by. So that is honestly why most people get em.

Plus they retain the factory Cat location so you don't fiddle with the "warranty" aspect of the system.

Add a set of uncatted midpipes to them and well, that's another story. I've seen DT's with uncatted JBAs push darn close some LT numbers.

As far as the LT's go....yes, every set of true LT's will extend past the factory Cat position.

However, you can hypothetically reuse your Solos that you currently have provided they are the same in/out diameter as the LT's that you choose to install.
