My dealer who I had bought 4 cars from in the past told me the price was to be determined but he'd be glad to take my deposit and i could walk away if the price was too high. Like I dint see that coming, I told him no thanks and kept looking I gave him a few more opportunities but no luck. He even told me to wait till after the demand went down along with the price. He went on to tell me that it was the owners policy to do business like this. Guess what I moved on. So anyhow GM I'm sure knows about dealers circumventing the rules the problem is how do they investigate and enforce them. It would take more money than the government has given them. Everyone should get their prices in writing. Unfortunately the dealer dangled some bait and you took it being an honest trusting customer its all sad but now deal with it and stop blaming the manufacturer, move on. Ouch, that's a little harsh.
I'm a firm believer that the buck stops at the top so I believe GM does share some responsibility here in keeping their dealers honest.
Sorry to hear that what happened to her. I hope she peels the tires off in front of that dealer when she does get the car of her dreams. Hey, a vette's not bad, though. At least she's not having to drive a Yugo around!
