P.S. I haven’t had the time to put my mods in “Bow” (Camaro) yet due to unfinished construction. So by spring of 2012 my “Bow” should be completed.

My Idea (not final at this time) is to remove the areas that I've outlined and put an X on, essentially removing the whole top of the runners.
This would allow me to work more like 3/4 of the runners.
The downside to this would be that not all runners would have the same length and they would be much shorter.
The affect of shorter intake runners would be that the powerband would be shifted to the higher rpm range.
It is always a concern when doing porting of any kind that you may lose bottom end (lower rpm) power. That being said, I've never lost anything that you'd actually miss, meaning that on motorcycles I've never lost anything above 3000rpms but you never run a motorcycle at that rpm range so the loss at that range is not a problem.
I wish I had two intakes to play with so I could test more than one Idea at a time.
Anyone here with car experience? I'd appreciate any input......be honest, if you think I'm an Idiot feel free to say so.

I never really noticed till you posted the pics of the intake that the casting of of our intakes is really rough! With that being said Porting and polishing as much as you can reach will be better than what you have now, by the time the flow reaches the rougher area it will not be deflected as bad as what you have now and may ever be rushing so fast that whatever roughness that is left from what cannot be reached will not be so much of an issue.
I ported and polished my edelbrock on my 350 and my lower end improved greatly and I never noticed any drop in power on the top end. I actually gained .02 on the track afterwards.
You should run some times before and after to see what you do gain or take it to a dyno for some real time numbers.
