However, there is a guy selling a white Gen 3 Z28 convertible right now near me. It is in pretty good shape and I am thinking of getting it for my son. I am just afraid that it might be too much car or too much of a testosterone boost for a 16 year old motor head to handle.

im sure that z28 is ALOT of car, but i know any 16 year old would be thrilled to have that car. i would love to get my hands on one one day. i would love to have a 69, people want so much for them these days. dont get me wrong it is well deserved, imo one of the nicest muscle cars ever, if not the nicest. if i cant get one of those i would "settle" for a 3rd gen. although if i find one in quality condition like the one you described, i dont think id be "settling" too much. btw you have 2 amazing fifth gens!
