Thumbs up I'm pretty thankful I didn't get shot today.

As some of you know, I work as a Paralegal in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Well, today around 3:30 I planned on leaving work and heading over to the Crawford County Courthouse to get some records, but I got tied up at work and ended up not making it.

I'm lucky because some psycho went in there right before four and unloaded at least 70 rounds of .223 ammo inside the courthouse, then went out on the lawn and started shooting at everyone in sight. Including a friend of mine who works for the DA and was parking her car. She's alright-- she hid behind her car until the cops took the guy down. He shot someone inside, but the cops killed him.

Apparently he went in asking for a judge who had presided over his custody hearing. When the judge wasn't in, he went mad and started shooting. He had an automatic rifle and three semiautomatic pistols. There aren't any metal detectors at the main entrance of the courthouse (they are outside the courtrooms) because we're in a small town where stuff like this just doesn't happen. Bet they will be rethinking that. Although, if I'd seen a man stroll in with a semiautomatic rifle, wearing tactical vest and webbing, I sure as hell wouldn't have let him get all the way upstairs before alerting someone...

Really freaking scary. I'm saying a little prayer of thanks tonight that by a fluke, I wasn't there.
