Winter 2011 Brake Upgrade
What to do??
I'm thinking about going to slotted rotors and stainless lines so I have something to tinker with over the winter. But there are some questions that I would like answered to help me decide which way to go.
As for rotors, I guess 2-piece front/rear is the best, but the only place to get them is Racing Brake. But it'll be big $$$$'s to go this route. Racing Brake also has open slot and regular slotted front rotors, what're the pros & cons between the two. Their rear rotors are open slot only (why?).
DBA only has 2-piece fronts and 1-piece rears at a more reasonable price. I guess 2-pc vs 1-pc difference is only the weight savings?
As for stainless brake lines, I'm leaning towards Goodrich or Pedders and can't decide. Is it possible to re&re the lines by yourself? I've done my 84 5L H.O. back in the day, but that's like the Dark Ages compared to today's stuff. I read somewhere that the dealership does it via a program??
Well, thanks for your input in advance. The car's going into storage in a month's time (think the last event is Oct 9th), so the purchasing will begin in earnest after that.
Tom
