Tracking...

Even with the new Onstar terms they dont track half as much as you are already giving away online.
I think you're missing the finer details. Who is OnStar going to share this information with. The information I'm referring to comes right from their amended Terms and Conditions (speed, location, direction, etc) which they say is anonymized before it's sold. Except, it's not hard to data mine to figure out who that anonymized data pertains to. As an example - Hi, we are insurance company XYZ, we know that our customer Joe Smith lives in Anytown USA... We know he drives an OnStar equipped vehicle, there seems to be a lot of route information at his address in Anytown USA. This must be him and as a matter of fact, he seems to drive routinely above the posted speed limit. Time for a rate increase. It may seem far fetched, but it's probably not as far off of the mark as you'd like it to be.

As for your internet example, I can completely stop tracking of my activities online by not surfing. OnStar didn't provide a fair chance with this "update". Do you think people would've bought OnStar equipped vehicles knowing that these privacy terms and conditions would change like this? Who knows, but I'd bet there'd be several.

Thanks for listening
