Believe me i will have the opportunity many, many times in the future. The first ZR1 we sold had 3 miles on it at delivery. I personally drove the vehicle from the transport truck to our Master Technician (the only one i will let service a ZR1) and niether one of us wanted to take it for a drive. My feeling was, that vehicle could not be replaced if something tragic was to happen on that drive, wether our fault or someone else's, We installed the splitter, rocker panels, etc. and quite frankly i could not wait for the customer to pick the car up. I did not want to detail the vehicle, or remove any plastic etc. until i got the customers permission. We have certain employees that we allow to drive certain vehicles. We just want to get the car right for delivery. I hate when we are pressured at the time of delivery and are not allowed the time to do the job correctly, and then the new owner has an issue and is disappointed. I am just as impatient as everyone to get the car. My recommendation is to not only let your sales consultant know your expectations, but also notify the service manager, PDI manager as well. I am sure they would be more than happy to accomodate you in any reasonable way.
A little communication goes a loooonnng way! Ask my wife how good I am at mind reading!
