Actually, i just did my bezels last night on my SIM. I too did flat black.
The best paint to use is actually Rust'Oleom (or however you spell it) It's made specifically for automotive platics and can be used indoor/outdoor.
Another great thing is it doesn't require any primer (says so right on the can)
I scuffed the chrome first with 600 grit, cleaned off, one LIGHT coat of sray, and then 2-3 actual coats. I only waited 10-15 minutes between coats and it turned out great!
