I would have to say one the biggest things on that list is inspecting the paint for chips, scratches, and if it's metallic take extra care to look for "runs" in the metal flake. I picked up my 05 Silverado VHO and looked everything over very good but some how missed a huge run in the metal flake going down the rear drivers side door, from about the window to the body line and about 4" wide! But it was about 6 months since i picked it up so at that point I obviously couldn't exactly say I didn't want to accept it. Short of having it repainted I have just learned to live with it.
