Best car I have ever owned from a maintenance perspective was a Mazda 626.
Damn thing didn't cost me a dime on broken parts etc, just normal maint. cost like oil, windshield wipers and the like.
With that said, agree with Silverghost, any car is only as good as you maintain it. Oh yea, I lub my Chevy's!
